We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and self-motivated individual to work as part of the Safeguarding, Mental Health & Wellbeing Team across all St Helens and Knowsley sites.
The role of Safeguarding, Mental Health & Wellbeing Officer will involve working with students who are experiencing personal or social issues that affects their wellbeing, and ability to deal with the current situation that they are experiencing. The role will involve supporting the student on either a short or long-term basis, whilst also assessing any requirement to refer to external agencies where appropriate.
Working within this team offers the opportunity to work with staff across college to support our students and enable them to be the best that they can be by achieving their qualifications. The successful candidate will also be required to maintain case notes on supporting IT systems and assisting in the collation of data for the SK College Group.
The Safeguarding, Mental Health & Wellbeing Team also arrange extra-curricular College-wide events for students' so the role will involve organising, setting up and monitoring of events.
For the right candidate, this role will involve daily challenges, working under pressure and constant updating but will give immense personal satisfaction in seeing students that we work with achieve their goals.
The successful candidate must:
- Hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in relevant subject area
- Hold GCSE level 4 or above English & Maths
- Level 3 Working Together to Safeguard Children or a willingness to achieve at earliest opportunity (Desirable)
- Mental Health First Aid qualification (Desirable)
- Have substantial experience working in a comparable job role
- Experience of dealing with young people with mental health issues
