Job Summary
This is a new role in a growing team and provides a fantastic opportunity to apply your expertise and creativity in communications and marketing to help FHT to increase our membership, reach and engage new and existing audiences to shape and deliver a multi-channel marketing and communications strategy for a leading membership body. The main responsibilities will include creating and overseeing the activation of the marketing strategy and using data insights and analytics to grow FHT's Membership and develop FHT's reach and support. The role will also oversee FHT's website as the main resource and marketing hub.
The role of the Head of Marketing, Communications, and Membership is to be accountable for all the FHT's marketing and communication activities, its brand and image to achieve the following objectives:
· To increase membership by attracting new members, retaining existing members and winning back lapsed members.
· To generate additional revenue that widens our offering and complements our membership.
· To communicate our successes externally for increased awareness of the organisation and the Accredited Register.
Duties
Principal duties and responsibilities:
· To develop, implement and maintain a strategic marketing and communications strategy, annual marketing and communications plan and monitor and report on outcomes to meet the above aim and objectives, including regular review of risks, trends and forecasts.
· To proactively identify growth and revenue opportunities to support organisational aims and objectives.
Communications, marketing and branding:
Creating, leading, and overseeing the delivery of FHT's marketing and Communications strategy including:
· To oversee strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure press coverage and increase therapists/public awareness.
· To ensure the appropriate and most effective marketing channels and tactics are used to support membership drives/campaigns etc.
· To be responsible for the FHT brand and image and its consistent usage across all platforms.
· To maintain and further develop an effective website - direction, content, consistency and tone of voice etc. To use audience insight and data analysis to determine priorities and curate campaigns, projects and content from across the organisation.
· To develop and improve our member and supporter journeys.
· To manage the shop facility and its budget, including new product and branding development
· To initiate marketing projects and ensure effective management
· To oversee the marketing budget effectively while ensuring maximum ROI on all marketing activities.
Internal and stakeholder communications including:
· To be a member of the senior leadership team.
· To assist the Chief Executive/senior leadership team and Board to oversee strategic and operational issues, managing risks related to communications, brand, and public image.
· To compile and submit regular marketing reports to the Chief Executive/Board.
· To manage marketing agencies and freelancers to deliver work in line with the marketing and communications strategy in an efficient and timely manner.
HR responsibilities including:
· To provide effective management of the Marketing and Membership team (currently 3 direct line reports) and other staff/freelancers as and when required.
· As directed by the Chief Executive to oversee the recruitment to expand the marketing and communications team where required.
Membership management, retention, engagement and growth:
· To work with the Membership and Insurance Teams to develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and engage FHT members.
· To regularly communicate with members through various channels to foster positive relationships and solicit feedback to improve the member experience.
· To identify opportunities for expanding the FHT membership base and develop targeted outreach strategies to grow all categories of membership.
· To develop and implement retention strategies to minimize churn and increase member satisfaction.
· To ensure membership metrics are available to provide regular reports to the Chief Executive/Board on membership numbers, flagging concerns and suggesting areas for improvement.
· To work with the Chief Executive/senior management team and others to regularly review membership fees, benefits and structures.
· To support the collection of membership fees.
· To provide informative and accurate reports on membership statistics, working with the membership, insurance and finance teams to provide precise, reliable financial data.
· To line manage the Membership Manager and oversee the Membership Department.
Requirements
· A minimum of two years' experience at a senior level in a similar role.
· Experience of leading on strategic marketing and public relations (PR) planning, analysis, and activation.
· Demonstratable track-record of using audience data and insights to make strategic recommendations.
· Solid understanding of digital marketing channels and how to use them to target relevant audiences.
· Ability to build meaningful working relationships (internal and external) to shape and direct campaigns and activities and to work together to get the results.
· Strategic thinker with the ability to inspire confidence by adopting an entrepreneurial and creative approach.
· Experience of managing budgets.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Experience of planning, executing, and evaluating effective awareness raising campaigns and public relations activities.
· Experience of producing / commissioning high-quality written information for a wide range of audiences.
· Copywriting and design skills.
· Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint and databases.
· Experience of appointing, managing, developing and appraising staff.
· A communications or marketing qualification (degree or CIM) or equivalent experience to a similar level.
