Group Finance Director
PE-backed Technology Consulting
Company
Our client is a fast growing consultancy focused on modern AI, data and digital transformation. It works with major organisations on long-term strategic programmes and is regarded by many of its clients as a key partner, rather than a supplier. The business is PE backed and has undergone a meaningful shift in operating and delivery model in recent years. A new strategic growth plan is set for 2026 and beyond, supporting continued expansion in the UK, US and Europe.
This is a business with ambition, pace and real momentum.
Opportunity
The Group Finance Director will take ownership of the function and shape it for the next stage of growth. The role will require someone who can balance day-to-day leadership with a transformation mindset. Key priorities include:
- Leading a programme of change to enhance the technology and data capability of the accounting, reporting and FinOps functions
- Making the close cycle faster, cleaner and supported by better automation
- Building capability and confidence across the finance team, with clear ownership of responsibilities
- Improving the consistency and impact of business partnering across the organisation
- Strengthening collaboration with FP&A to support forward planning and revenue visibility
- Acting as a senior representative of Finance in both internal forums and selected external settings
- Operating as a trusted partner to the CFO and a natural deputy where required
This is a role with visibility and influence. The right person will be in the conversation on how the business grows, how it invests and how it embeds strategic initiatives.
Transformation
A major part of the role will involve leading the technology and data transformation agenda within Finance. The finance IT/systems strategy needs to be reviewed, and applications be enhanced in their capability; if not potentially replaced. Linking to a revised finance data strategy being defined and implemented under the stewardship of the Group Finance Director. Reporting and analytics should become more real-time, integrated and dependable.
The goal is to shift the function to a place where the majority of its effort is spent on insight, analysis and influence., rather than production.
This will require someone comfortable with systems and with high data literacy. Confident asking pointed questions about system functionality, data flows and able to design a practical roadmap rather than a theoretical one.
Ideal Profile
- Leadership experience across Group Finance in a growing or PE backed environment
- A background in consulting, technology or another services-led organisation
- A track record of driving change, improving reporting cycles, controls and financial processes
- Strong systems awareness and demonstrable expertise in automation and data strategy
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders with clarity, calm and credibility
Why you?
If you are looking for a role where the brief is to maintain what exists, this is unlikely to be the right place. If you are energised by building capability, improving how a business understands itself and helping shape a finance function that can scale with confidence, then this is the right moment to join.
