The Commercial Finance Business Partner will play a pivotal role in driving strategic decision-making. They will act as the bridge between finance, commercial and operational teams, providing insightful analysis, financial guidance, and performance support to help shape business outcomes. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a responsibility to influence senior stakeholders.

The Role at a Glance

Location: Slough Trading Estate, Slough, SL1 4AY (some travel required)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Up to £80,000

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking for regulated and commercial activities
  • Analyze cost drivers, asset performance, and service delivery metrics to identify efficiency opportunities
  • Develop financial models for capital investment, asset lifecycle planning, and regulatory submissions
  • Support pricing strategies and contract negotiations with commercial clients
  • Monitor regulatory compliance impacts on financial performance and advise on mitigation strategies
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights to non-finance stakeholders through dashboards and presentations
  • Contribute to sustainability and innovation initiatives by evaluating financial viability and ROI

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience in commercial finance, financial planning & analysis (FP&A) and business partnering, ideally within utilities, infrastructure, or environmental services
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to the water and waste industry (e.g., Ofwat, Environment Agency) and their financial implications
  • Advanced analytical and financial modelling skills, with a proven ability to interpret complex data and drive strategic insights
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools, including Microsoft Excel; experience with business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is advantageous
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to sustainability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
