Overview

We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and dynamic Musical Theatre LAMDA tutor & Performance Troupe Singing Tutor to join our team. This is an exciting dual-role opportunity, where you will teach 1-2-1 LAMDA Musical Theatre classes as well as direct and teach singing for our Junior Performance Troupe. You will inspire, nurture, and challenge our students, encouraging their growth in both acting and singing, while creating unforgettable experiences for them on stage.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for guiding students through their LAMDA exams, helping them prepare for musical theatre performances, and arranging and teaching harmonies for the Performance Troupe. We're looking for someone who is fun, bubbly, confident, and passionate about delivering outstanding and memorable musical theatre experiences

Key Responsibilities:

LAMDA Musical Theatre Teaching:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging 1-2-1 LAMDA Musical Theatre lessons that build confidence, technique, and performance skills.
  • Prepare students for their LAMDA exams, ensuring they develop proficiency in acting, singing, and performance.
  • Guide students in character development
  • Encourage a supportive, inclusive, and positive atmosphere that inspires students to push their creative boundaries.

Performance Troupe Singing:

  • Lead the Performance Troupe's vocal sessions, focusing on developing their singing technique and harmonies.
  • Arrange and rehearse exciting, dynamic vocal harmonies for the pieces the troupe works on.
  • Work closely with students to enhance their musical ear, performance skills, and ensemble work.
  • Prepare the troupe for performances, including the end-of-term cabaret event and upcoming productions.

Creating Amazing Experiences:

  • Bring energy, fun, and enthusiasm to every lesson, ensuring students feel inspired, confident, and excited to perform.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to take risks and develop their full potential.
  • Help build lasting memories for students by providing unique opportunities to experience the magic of musical theatre, both in class and on stage.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in musical theatre teaching and performing.
  • Proficient in arranging vocal harmonies and teaching them effectively to groups of students.
  • Strong background in both singing and acting with a passion for all aspects of musical theatre.
  • Experience working with children and young people, ideally in a performing arts or educational setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and engage students of varying abilities.
  • A fun, bubbly, and confident personality with the ability to create a vibrant and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with LAMDA exams or similar drama training certifications.
