The Suffolk County Council IT department provides technology support to our 6 directorates – Adult Social Care, Children and Young People Services, Corporate Services, Fire & Public Safety, Growth Highways and Infrastructure and Public Health and Communities.

Your role and responsibilities
You will have excellent analysis and solution design skills, be a strong communicator and possess a good knowledge of the ITIL best practice framework. As this is a technical support role, a solid background in supporting line of business applications and associated technologies in a Windows Server environment would be advantageous.
Lead IT collaboration with the Children and Young People Services directorate to make best use of systems and resources to enhance services provided to customers and staff.
Manage the development and maintenance of the directorate product portfolio to ensure products provide the required functionality and enable the council to deliver efficient services.
Oversee co-ordination of upgrades, requests for change and service enhancements with suppliers, transformation programmes and customers.
Manage and develop direct reports (IT Systems Engineer(s)).
You will need
Strong analytical skills, including understanding and translating requirements.
A methodological and thorough approach to designing, testing, and documenting solutions
A strong level of knowledge in the processes and tools required to deliver and support the Children and Young People Services directorate product portfolio

The team
The IT Service, as part of the Corporate Services directorate, provides and supports Suffolk County Council's technology requirements. You will be working alongside experts in network, server, storage, applications, devices, cyber security and first line support. The IT Service supports colleagues across the organisation to get the most from their technology provision within a flexible working environment.
