Senior Buyer to Procurement Manager – Wholesale / FMCG / Multi-SKU Environment

£40,000 – £45,000 + Benefits

Our client is a well-established and growing wholesale business supplying a wide range of products to trade and commercial customers. With strong year-on-year growth and a clear plan to modernise its operations, the company now seeks a capable Procurement Manager to take ownership of its purchasing and supplier management activities.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Senior Buyer or Purchasing professional ready to step up into a broader Procurement leadership role, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

The Role:

You'll be responsible for all aspects of product sourcing, supplier negotiation, stock management and value creation. Working closely with Sales, Marketing and Operations, you'll ensure that buying decisions support commercial performance, promotional activity and customer service goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop supplier relationships to secure best value, quality and service.
  • Rationalise SKUs and suppliers to improve buying leverage and simplify range management.
  • Work with Marketing and Sales to align buying with promotions and customer demand.
  • Support logistics and warehouse teams to maintain optimum stock levels and availability.
  • Introduce systems and controls to track spend, margin, supplier performance and rebate recovery.
  • Lead on cost-reduction, sustainability and ethical sourcing initiatives.

The Person:

You'll be an analytical, commercially aware buyer with experience in multi-SKU or FMCG environments (ideally wholesale, retail or catering supplies). You combine strong negotiation skills with an eye for process improvement and value delivery.

In the Medium Term (6–18 months):

  • Develop supplier frameworks, rebate agreements and formal performance reviews.
  • Embed procurement policies, approval frameworks and KPI tracking across the business.

In the Longer Term (18–36 months):

  • Lead structured supplier agreements, long-term partnerships and continuous improvement.
  • Own the Procurement budget and act as the business lead for supplier performance and cost control.
