London, Greater London, United Kingdom Venturi Full time £60,000 - £80,000 per year

Microsoft Purview Specialist (Contract)

6-month engagement | SC Clearance Required

We're looking for a seasoned Microsoft Purview expert to take the reins of a major client's data governance platform. This is an opportunity to step into a role where your decisions shape how an entire organisation discovers, protects and manages its data.

What you'll be doing

You'll be the primary authority for the client's Purview estate, leading both structured and unstructured data capabilities. Your work will involve configuring the platform, onboarding data sources, fine-tuning scans, and establishing the standards and patterns that guide how the client governs its information.

You'll partner directly with technical teams and business stakeholders, providing clarity, direction and a practical path forward when it comes to classification, lineage, sensitivity, policy enforcement and data ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end Purview rollout for the client, from design through scale-up
  • Configure, refine and optimise catalogue, lineage and classification features
  • Lead unstructured data governance, sensitivity labelling and integration across M365
  • Resolve platform issues, interpret insights, and advise on improvements
  • Establish data product structures, domains and ownership approaches
  • Communicate guidance and findings to audiences with varying technical backgrounds

Must-Have Experience

  • Active SC clearance (or ability to be cleared)
  • Deep, hands-on expertise across Purview's core capabilities
  • Strong experience governing unstructured data and M365 integrations
  • A track record of translating governance needs into tangible configuration
  • Comfortable working directly with clients in a consulting or advisory environment

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Azure data services, Fabric, Databricks or hybrid estates
  • Knowledge of governance frameworks and data management models
  • Awareness of security and compliance requirements such as ISO 27001 and GDPR
