We have a permanent opportunity here at Dalkia UK for a Financial Accountant to join our team in Birmingham Business Park.
This role will efficiently and accurately manage financial accounting & reporting for Dalkia Facilities. You will execute on key responsibilities and accountabilities listed below which will support Dalkia in maintaining its market-leading status within the industry.
The Role
- Ensuring accuracy of the trial balance including revenue recognition, provisioning, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset depreciation and journal entries in line with applicable accounting standards
- Preparation of Dalkia Facilities monthly management accounts comprising income statement, balance sheet and cash flows (including appropriate variance analysis) in line with Group timetables
- Preparation of annual Budgeting and Forecasting activities including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow projections in line with Group timetables
- Preparation of monthly board packs and quarterly 'Performance Review' documents (board level); undertaking reviews with stakeholders as appropriate
- IFRS16 reporting to Group
- Management of Intercompany reporting
- Annual Statutory Accounts for 4 legal entities
- Manage the year-end audit process for all legal entities
- Undertake reviews and publish of company-wide policies and procedures to support financial processes and controls, challenging the norms to ensure best practise.
- Complete comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Supporting with capex investment appraisals
- Posting of Payroll and reconciling associated control accounts
- Overhead reporting, liaising with key management to assess variances to budget
- Ensuring documentation is in place for internal controls and assisting with the preparation of Senior Accounting Officer ('SAO') return documentation
- Working with various departments and supporting the business with ad-hoc costing and financial support where required
- Performance Management of Assistant Accountant
- Other ad-hoc duties as required by the Financial Controller
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 4.45pm, 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential
- You will be a qualified accountant, part of a recognised accounting body either ACA or ACCA (ideally having worked within in industry previously).
- Experience of statutory reporting, management accounting, balance sheet reconciliations
- Highly proficient in MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
- An individual with a passion, commitment and desire to succeed. Highly motivated and detail oriented with excellent communication, stakeholder management skills, computer and organisational skills
- Someone who flourishes working with people to find innovative new solutions
- Ability to prioritise and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment
- Ability to work well under time constraints
Desirable
- Previous experience in a large-scale organisation
- Previous experience in a finance role within the construction/ facility management sector
- Prior exposure to tax returns, other statutory returns & year-end reporting
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Business Central ERP
