We are seeking a professional and motivated Fees Clerk to join our friendly and hardworking clerking team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with credit control or legal finance experience who enjoys responsibility and variety in their day.

The Role

As Fees Clerk, you'll report to the Senior Clerk and take ownership of the efficient recovery of barristers' fees. Your work will help maintain the financial health of chambers and ensure first-rate service to solicitors and clients.

Key Duties

  • Proactively chase and recover outstanding fees by telephone, email and letter.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of payments and debtor activity.
  • Liaise with solicitors' firms and other clients to resolve billing or payment queries promptly.
  • Monitor aged debt reports and escalate matters when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the clerking and accounts teams to ensure smooth billing and collections.
  • Prepare and reconcile fee notes when required.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in credit control, fee recovery or legal accounts, ideally within a law firm, barristers' chambers or other professional services.
  • Confident and courteous when communicating by phone or email.
  • Organised, accurate and persistent with excellent attention to detail.
  • Professional, approachable and able to build lasting relationships.
  • Familiar with LEX or other chambers management systems (desirable but not essential).
