Here at Entrust we are growing at an alarming rate. As a result of this, we are looking for an Ecologist to join our business.

The Ecologist will provide specialist technical advice to our local authority customers on ecology, biodiversity, nature conservation.

Experience in working with statutory agencies and developers and a proven ability to identify and facilitate environmental solutions would be welcomed.

You will carry out extended phase 1 habitat surveys.

You will be involved in a range of species surveys such as great crested newts, bats, reptiles, badgers and birds.

You will write reports in relation to PEA, EcIA and species survey reports.

Requirements;
A degree in a Ecology or a relevant discipline.

Experience working within a consultancy

You will hold a protected species license (preferably bat).

Experience in performing a range of ecological surveys to identify ecological constraints.

Brilliant report writing skills.

Membership of CIEEM.
- A degree in Ecology or a relevant discipline,
- Demonstrable consultancy experience is advantageous however not necessary,
- CIEEM membership is advantageous,
- Volunteering experience is beneficial,
- Excellent writing capabilities,
- Protected Species Licence(s) are advantageous,
- Full, UK driving licence. Whilst working as an Assistant Ecologist, you will be involved in;
- A variety of protected species surveys,
- Ecological Impact Assessments (EIA),
- A range of Ecological reports including PEAs and PRAs,
- Liaising with clients, project managers and stakeholders,
- Preparing fee proposals.

As an Ecologist, you will be working on a variety of critical projects supporting our clients in the low carbon economy to deliver renewable energy projects, nature-based solutions, biodiversity net gain advice, habitat and peatland restoration and nature conservation solutions.

Your role will include undertaking ornithology, habitat and protected species surveys, providing Clerk of Works support, and assisting with data input, analysis, research, and report writing - giving you invaluable experience of survey methodologies, mitigation and best practice techniques.

Who are we looking for?
- An appreciation of relevant wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
- An interest in ornithology and the ability to identify bird species would be advantageous. - Attention to technical detail, in both recording and transcribing/checking survey data.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Good report-writing skills, with eye for detail. - Use of MS Word and Excel for report writing purposes.
- A with a willingness to work in remote locations and, at times, staying away from home during the working week.

- As a Senior Ecologist you would be expected to bring extensive technical expertise in survey design and delivery
- have experience of protected species mitigation and licences (e.g., GCN, bats, dormouse, barn owl).

- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
- Hold Protected Species Licences e.g. NE Class 2 bat licence or NRW dormice
- Experience of delivering EcIA and HRA
- Obtaining EPS mitigation licences
- Excellent report writing skills
- Ability to handle confidential information
