Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Health Care Assistant/Support Worker to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support across various medical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and specialized units such as Geriatrics, PICU, and surgical departments. This role involves assisting with patient care, administrative tasks, and supporting clinical staff to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment. Candidates with hospital experience, familiarity with EHR systems, and knowledge of medical terminology are highly preferred. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare setting dedicated to patient-centered care.
Duties
- Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting vital signs and documenting patient information using EHR systems
- Support clinical staff with procedures such as medication administration, specimen collection, and basic life support
- Monitor and record patient vital signs accurately and report any abnormalities to healthcare providers
- Aid in patient mobility and comfort, ensuring safety during transfers and positioning
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities in compliance with hospital policies
- Support physicians and nurses with medical procedures such as X-ray assistance or intraoperative support in the OR or Geriatrics units
- Assist in managing hospital documentation including ICD coding and medical records management
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing patient needs with empathy and professionalism
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and updating electronic health records (EHR)
Qualifications
- Prior experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ICD coding standards
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred or required upon hire
- Experience working within a Level I or Level II trauma center is advantageous
- Familiarity with medical-surgical units, internal medicine, Geriatrics, PICU, or OR settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or hospital emergency departments
