Job Title: Medical Director - Consultant Ophthalmologist
Overview

Our healthcare organization is seeking a compassionate and visionary Medical Director - Consultant Ophthalmologist to lead our ophthalmology department. Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Ophthalmology Department, ensuring high standards of clinical care and patient safety are maintained.
  • Provide strategic leadership for expanding ophthalmology services, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals, vision, and values.
  • Diagnose and manage a range of eye diseases, performing complex surgical and non-surgical procedures as needed.
  • Mentor and support a diverse team of ophthalmology professionals, fostering a culture of inclusivity, teamwork, and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to explore new treatment options and implement cutting-edge ophthalmic research.
  • Develop and maintain policies, protocols, and systems to ensure streamlined workflows and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Act as an advisor to leadership, providing expert input on healthcare strategies, ophthalmology trends, and new technologies.
Qualifications
  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) and board certification in Ophthalmology, with fellowship training in a specialized area preferred.
  • Proven experience as a consultant ophthalmologist with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to inspire a diverse team towards excellence.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and in patient care delivery.
  • Exceptional clinical and surgical skills with extensive knowledge of ophthalmic diseases and treatment modalities.

Day-to-Day
  • Perform ophthalmic consultations, treatments, and surgeries with the highest professional standards.
  • Provide clinical supervision to medical staff and ensure professional development through education and training opportunities.
  • Meet regularly with department heads and healthcare leadership to assess outcomes, address challenges, and align goals.
  • Facilitate inclusive departmental meetings to share progress updates, inform about advancements in ophthalmic care, and encourage collaboration.
  • Oversee departmental budgets, and operations, ensuring alignment with the organization's priorities and compliance standards.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness about eye health and improve access to care for underserved populations.
