We are seeking an experienced and motivated Warehouse Team Leader to oversee the picking operation within our busy distribution centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of pickers to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and on time.

This is a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced eCommerce and multi-channel environment, ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and support a team of warehouse operatives to meet daily and weekly picking KPIs.
  • Oversee all aspects of the picking process, ensuring accuracy, speed, and compliance with operational standards.
  • Allocate work and manage resources effectively across shifts to meet demand and service levels.
  • Act as a Health & Safety Champion, promoting safe working practices and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy through correct use of WMS and PDA/scanners.
  • Ensure all orders are processed efficiently, with attention to quality and presentation.
  • Drive team performance by monitoring key metrics and addressing areas for improvement.
  • Take an active role in MHE (Material Handling Equipment) management, including daily checks and operator compliance.
  • Support the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and best practice.
  • Champion a continuous improvement mindset and contribute to process optimisation initiatives.
  • Encourage and implement 5S and Lean/Six Sigma principles where applicable.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Goods In, Goods Out, Customer Service, eCommerce) to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Lead by example, this is a hands-on role, requiring active participation in warehouse operations.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years' warehouse experience in a fast-paced environment.

  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory or team leader experience.

  • Proven experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

  • Proficient in using PDA/scanner technology.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a team.

  • Excellent attention to detail and focus on accuracy.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

  • Analytical and process-driven, with strong problem-solving ability.

  • Experience managing KPIs and delivering measurable performance improvements.

Preferred:

  • Counterbalance forklift licence.

  • eCommerce and multi-channel warehouse experience.

  • Familiarity with Linnworks or other order management systems.

  • Understanding of 5S and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
