Performance Analyst
About the job you're considering
The Performance Analyst is a pivotal analytical role. You will be responsible for developing performance measurement frameworks and analysing the performance of a service or product. You will also have the opportunity to work for other clients in government and the private sector. Your approach and framework will adapt in line with any changes made to the service, and you will be expected to trouble-shoot and help resolve any performance issues that are identified.
You will work within multidisciplinary teams to help design and deliver designs that are accessible, understandable, and aligned with the Government Digital Service (GDS) standards. Your work will span various projects within the UK Government, requiring a strong understanding of agile methodologies and the ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
Hybrid working
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home. You will be unable to work at home 100% of the time and will be expected to work from a Capgemini office a minimum of 2-days a week, and willing to travel as required by the role.
To be considered candidates must be based in the UK and have existing permission to work in the UK. Sponsorship will not be provided. If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)
Your role
The services we co-create within our team are often transformational, but the solution may not be obvious, and the landscape is complex, so we are looking for individuals who can make sense where there is very little framework or direction.
You will be expected to:
- Define, collect, and analyse performance data to assess how digital services are meeting user and business needs.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with designers and delivery teams to embed data-driven decision-making throughout the service lifecycle.
- Translate complex data into actionable recommendations that inform design and delivery.
- Ensure data and analysis is of high quality and accuracy, and work with a variety of qualitative and quantitative data.
- Provide challenge from a digital perspective and collaborate with other digital and analytical professions, especially user researchers, to provide collective insights.
- Help ensure services meet the Government Digital Service (GDS) performance framework.
- Support GDS assessments by providing robust evidence of service performance and user impact.
- Contribute to the wider XD community and wider Capgemini - by sharing best practices and supporting continuous improvement.
- Support our ever-expanding team of passionate and skilled junior talent and advocate for mentoring and guiding members of the team and your community
- Be an ambassador for analytics, supporting others to improve and interpret data.
- Understand and help resolve design-centric disputes across varying levels of complexity and risk.
- Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and use an iterative and flexible approach to enable rapid Agile delivery.
- Communicate effectively across organisational and technical boundaries.
- Help identify opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience.
Your skills and experience
Essential
- Proven experience in performance analysis, data analytics, or a related field within digital service delivery.
- Proven experience designing and implementing service performance measurement frameworks
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python, R) and data visualisation platforms (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Google Analytics 4, Big Query, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio, Mural).
- Lead on the design and implementation of measurement roadmaps, KPIs, and dashboards to monitor service delivery and impact.
- Experience working with Government Digital Service (GDS) service standards, using GDS design principles
- Strong understanding of user-centred design, agile delivery and how data informs iterative service improvement to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with Central Government departments or in regulated public sector environments.
- Ability to build relationships and break barriers when interpreting and translating data for users
- Knowledge of which tools, process, or methods to use and how to bring an agile delivery team along with you
- Ability to engage with development teams and architects to ensure data and technical considerations are accommodated within the design
- Evidence of working with user centred design colleagues to synthesise insights and act on the outcomes
- Translate complex data into accessible insight to support strategic decisions.
- Ability to present analysis and justify decisions you've made using an evidence-based approach
- Understanding of what good digital services look like and how to design in an inclusive, accessible way
- Managing and mentoring junior analysts to build capability within the team
Desirable
- Experience contributing to Centres of Excellence or communities of practice around performance and analytics.
- Understand the strategic context of your work and how it aligns with broader project goals.
- Understanding of sustainable service design and how performance data can support environmental and social impact goals
- Experience of working in other sectors
- Consultancy experience and demonstrable experience of opening-up new account spaces
- Knowledge of cloud-based analysis platforms (e.g. Google Cloud Platform, AWS)
Qualifications
- Relevant performance analysis qualification is desirable
- Relevant professional certifications or equivalent experience
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to be eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance.
To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.
Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
