About the Role

We are recruiting an organised, confident NMC-registered Specialist Nurse to join our orthodontic and maxillofacial clinic in Cobham. This hybrid role blends clinical nursing duties with patient coordination, digital imaging, and labwork management. You will also support post-operative maxillofacial surgery patients, so NMC registration is essential.

The role begins with a 6-month fixed-term contract. This provides a structured period for both you and the clinic to confirm mutual fit, with a clear intention to progress to a permanent role.

This is a varied outpatient position offering excellent work–life balance with no nights, Sundays, or bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Assist clinicians during orthodontic, aesthetic, and maxillofacial procedures
  • Support monitoring and recovery of post-operative maxillofacial patients
  • Prepare treatment rooms, set up equipment, and complete safety checks
  • Carry out decontamination processes (HTM 01-05 compliant) and manage clinical workflows
  • Perform end-of-day close-down, decon, waste management, and daily checklist completion
  • Maintain safe infection control and contribute to CQC-aligned clinical governance
  • Provide calm, supportive communication throughout patient appointments
  • Maintain accurate clinical notes and digital records

Clinical Imaging & Digital Workflow

  • Take intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs in line with IRMER (training provided if needed)
  • Perform 3D intra-oral and extra-oral scanning for diagnostics and treatment planning
  • Capture standardised clinical photographs
  • Upload, label, and manage digital imaging and patient files
  • Prepare digital assets for clinicians, treatment planning, and labs

Labwork Management

  • Send out digital and physical labwork accurately
  • Track and chase lab items to ensure timely returns
  • Organise and log labwork in clinic systems
  • Liaise with clinicians to prioritise urgent cases and resolve delays
  • Patient Coordination & Administration

Act as a friendly, informed point of contact for patient enquiries

  • Manage bookings, rescheduling, and diary optimisation
  • Guide patients clearly through treatment pathways
  • Prepare treatment plans, consent forms, aftercare instructions, and related documentation
  • Support invoicing, payments, and accurate administrative record-keeping
  • Ensure GDPR-compliant management of patient data

Operational Support

  • Liaise with clinicians to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Support stock control and clinical ordering
  • Assist with audits, safety checks, and compliance documentation
  • Contribute to continuous workflow improvements and maintain a calm, organised clinic environment

About You

You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy varied, structured work and a mix of clinical and coordination responsibilities.

Essential

  • NMC-registered nurse (PIN required)
  • Confident communicator with excellent organisation
  • Comfortable working across clinical, imaging, and administrative duties
  • Strong understanding of infection control, safe practice, and patient safety
  • Competent with digital systems and clinical software

Desirable

  • Dental radiography qualification
  • Experience with 3D scanning or clinical photography
  • Orthodontic, outpatient, maxillofacial, or aesthetic experience
  • Understanding of CQC compliance and governance
