Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to patients in a care home or home care setting, ensuring their comfort and well-being. You will assist with daily living activities, implement care plans, and communicate effectively with both patients and healthcare professionals. A strong understanding of IT systems will be beneficial for maintaining accurate records and facilitating communication.

We are a Real Living Wage Foundation accredited employer.

Starting salary (irrespective of age)

  • Level 2 NVQ £12.74 per hour, due to increase to £13.60 in February 2026
  • Level 3 NVQ £12.88 per hour, due to increase to £13.75 in February 2026

Shift Times

  • Days - 36 hours a week

The above rates do not include holiday pay. You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks pro rata paid holiday in addition to the hourly rate above.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
  • Support the implementation of individual care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to understand their needs and provide emotional support.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care and progress using IT systems.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Drive to patients' homes as required for home care services, ensuring safe transportation.
  • Participate in training sessions and continuous professional development to enhance skills.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a care home or home care setting is preferred.
  • Applicants should posses NVQ level 2 or 3 and be able to administer medication.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A valid driving licence is advantageous for home visits.
  • Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the service.
