Velocity Tech has partnered with a leading global insurer to deliver a key data transformation initiative, and we're seeking an experienced
Product Owner – Data
to join the team on a 12-month contract.

This role will play a critical part in driving the organisation's data strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams to define, prioritise, and deliver high-value data solutions that support business insights, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, translating business needs into clear data product requirements.
  • Define and own the roadmap for data products, ensuring alignment with strategic business and data objectives.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and architects to design scalable data solutions that enhance reporting and decision-making.
  • Manage and prioritise the data product backlog, balancing competing demands from multiple teams.
  • Ensure data governance, quality, and compliance standards are embedded across all deliverables.
  • Lead sprint planning sessions and actively engage in Agile ceremonies to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders on progress, risks, and dependencies.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven experience as a
    Product Owner
    , ideally within data or analytics-driven environments.
  • Strong understanding of
    data platforms
    ,
    ETL pipelines
    , and
    cloud technologies
    (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Experience working in
    Agile/Scrum
    delivery models within enterprise-scale organisations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
  • Knowledge of
    data governance
    ,
    metadata management
    , or
    regulatory data reporting
    highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in
    insurance
    ,
    financial services
    , or other regulated industries is a strong advantage.
