Founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1869, Notre Dame is a well-established coeducational Catholic Academy and a member of St Joseph's Multi Academy Trust. The post holder will work alongside the Academy's SEND team, as well as relevant Pastoral staff, to offer an effective administrative support service to the department, which includes duties covering all aspects of school life. Duties will include but are not limited to the below:
- To establish robust systems and processes to ensure that the school runs an effective and efficient SEND department to meet the specific needs of its pupils.
- To update and maintain the school's information management systems, with regards to SEND, including manual and electronic filing records.
- To have a good understanding of SEND terminology and legislation.
- To have a strong understanding of the Children and Families Act and SEND Code of Practice
- To communicate effectively with pupils, parents/carers, staff and other professionals.
- Assist in the production of statistical information as required.
- To deal with telephone calls, relating to the work of the department, directing as necessary to the SENCO and/or relevant Pastoral Staff.
- Produce correspondence connected with the work of the department, including letters, reports, memoranda and minutes to ensure effective communication both internally and externally.
- Assist in preparing reports for senior leadership and external agencies when required.
- Prepare agendas, take minutes, and distribute follow-up actions.
- Respond to queries from staff, students, and parents as directed by the SENDCO.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure consistency and clarity in SEND processes.
- Support with ad hoc tasks, including printing, filing, and resource preparation.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection. Reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.
- Contribute to the overall ethos/priorities/aims of the school.
