Company Description

Legal & General (L&G) is a leading UK financial services group and major global investor.

We've been safeguarding people's financial futures since 1836, and strive to build a better society, while improving the lives of our customers and creating value for shareholders.

We are one of the world's largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities. Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions: we are an international player in pension risk transfer, in UK and US life insurance, and in UK workplace pensions and retirement income.

Joining us means helping to improve the lives of our customers and contributing to the success of the business every day.

Job Description

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to earn while you learn?

Actuarial work plays a vital role in running a profitable and well-managed insurance business, and your contribution will support the success of a FTSE 100 company committed to inclusive capitalism and building a better society. Our actuaries work across the organisation, measuring, predicting and managing key areas to deliver value for customers. As part of our graduate scheme, you will rotate through different business areas to gain a broad understanding and develop into a well-rounded actuary. Your first placement will be in Hove, and every 18–24 months you will move to new teams and locations, expanding your professional network and deepening your actuarial expertise.

What you might be working on

  • Performing actuarial investigations and calculations to support pricing decisions and create bespoke quotations for large schemes
  • Managing the production of experience investigations to understand the impact of changes in mortality, morbidity, expenses and persistency
  • Delivering company and statutory financial reporting results to tight deadlines, including providing supporting commentary
  • Developing and maintaining actuarial models, code and software to ensure decision making is based on robust figures
  • Summarising the performance of insurance products or investigation results for presentation to senior stakeholders
  • Supporting actuaries in product development, commercial deals and pricing innovations
  • Collaborating with colleagues across teams to share insights and improve processes
  • Contributing to projects that enhance risk analysis and pricing strategies

We recruit on a rolling basis, and this role is likely to fill quickly. To give yourself the best chance, we recommend applying as soon as possible.

Qualifications
  • 2.1 degree in a numerate subject (ideally Maths or a STEM subject)
  • Strong analytical skills and great communication skills
  • Someone flexible who is also a team-player
  • A highly organised individual, who has the ability to prioritise effectively
Additional Information

Whatever your role, we reward ability, performance and attitude with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Your hard work will be rewarded when you join us.

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.

If you join us, you'll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views, and experiences. Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel.

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time, term-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can.

It doesn't matter if you don't meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.
