Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dementia Care Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to a couple with dementia who live in their own home, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to follow care plans while fostering a supportive environment for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Support clients in following their individual care plans, ensuring that their specific needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of client progress and any changes in their condition.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, promoting their independence and dignity.
  • Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required, ensuring safe transportation.
  • Utilise IT systems for documentation and communication purposes as needed.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations while maintaining a clean and organised environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a care home or home care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with clients with dementia
  • Strong communication skills in English are required for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients when necessary.
  • Basic IT skills are necessary for maintaining records and using care management software.
  • A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others is essential.
