Established in 2004, BioPhorum is a business-to-business membership organisation that has created an unparalleled environment for life science companies and executives, to collaborate and accelerate progress across the sector. The company uses a subscription model and has created 11 highly targeted "Phorums" (forums) with tailored content across multiple areas including Drug Substance, Drug Development, Fill Finish, Technology Strategy, Supply Chain Resilience, IT, Data and Digital, Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products, Quality, Regulatory, and Sustainability. BioPhorum's expert facilitators currently lead more than ninety initiatives involving over 7,000 subject matter experts.

BioPhorum has built a diverse and extensive client base of over 150 organisations, including 18 of the 20 largest global (bio)pharmacos. Beyond pharma, BioPhorum has also built relationships with other types of life science organisations, including those that provide services across the outsourced value chain (e.g., CDMOs), and academia.

The role

Overview

We are seeking a Media Relations and Content Manager to play a key role in extending BioPhorum's reputation as thought leaders within the biopharmaceutical industry. This role will be pivotal in shaping and executing our external communications strategy, building relationships with key media outlets, and creating compelling content that resonates with our members and the wider life sciences community, extending our reach into new markets, with new messages.

Main Responsibilities

Media Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and key media outlets across relevant industry print, broadcast, and digital platforms.
  • Manage BioPhorum's PR agency and ensure maximum impact of all relevant activity.
  • Proactively pitch stories, press releases, and expert commentary to secure positive media coverage.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing regular reports and insights to BioPhorum's Senior Leadership Team.
  • Prepare BioPhorum spokespeople for media interviews and public appearances and conferences etc, including preparing briefing materials, presentation decks and guiding on key messages.

Content Creation and Management

  • Develop and execute a content strategy aligned with BioPhorum's values, mission and goals.
  • Write, edit, and distribute high-quality content, including white papers, press releases, op-eds, blog posts, and social media updates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with organisational strategies.
  • Manage the firm's social media channels, creating engaging content and monitoring interactions to build a strong online presence and drive enquiries to BioPhorum's product portfolio.
  • Oversee the production of multimedia content, such as webinars, videos, infographics, and podcasts, to support communications efforts and extend our brand reach.
  • Create campaign materials, such as email newsletters, webinar invites and landing pages to drive inbound traffic and ensure high engagement with our material and messaging.
  • Support the organisation of events, such as press conferences, roundtables and town halls, to amplify BioPhorum's message and Thought Leadership positioning.

Internal Collaboration and Reporting

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and relevant teams across BioPhorum to ensure alignment across and engagement with all communications activities.
  • Develop and issue speaker and briefing notes for conferences and events where BioPhorum is in attendance, to ensure consistent and on-brand messaging.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on media coverage, campaign performance, and content metrics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience in media relations, journalism, or communications, ideally within Life Sciences.
  • Strong existing relationships with relevant journalists and media outlets.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific issues into clear, compelling content.
  • Experience managing social media channels and creating multimedia content, including webinars.
  • Knowledge of media monitoring tools and analytics platforms.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commercial mindset, with the ability to thrive in a face-based, growing business.
