Tenancy Check In Officer

London, Greater London, United Kingdom London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Full time £25,000 - £35,000 per year
About this job

Join a team that puts tenants first. Barking and Dagenham's Housing and Neighbourhoods service has a proud legacy of managing Council tenancies with care, integrity, and community focus. As part of our ambitious Behind Every Door programme, we're committed to visiting every tenant to ensure their home is safe, their tenancy is secure, and their well being is supported. We're looking for Tenancy Check-In Officers who are passionate about making a difference. You'll be the face of the Council during home visits, helping us build trust, ensure tenancy compliance, and connect residents with the support they need.

About you

You're a compassionate, observant, and tenant-minded individual who thrives on meaningful face-to-face engagement. You understand that every home visit is an opportunity to build trust, ensure safety, and make a real difference in a tenant's life. You're confident navigating sensitive conversations, spotting signs of vulnerability, and connecting residents with the support they need. Whether you're verifying tenancy details or identifying safeguarding concerns, you approach each task with professionalism, empathy, and integrity. If you're someone who values teamwork, takes pride in accurate record-keeping, and believes in the power of public service, we'd love to welcome you to our Housing and Neighbourhoods team.

About us

At Barking and Dagenham Council, we're proud to serve one of London's most diverse and dynamic communities. Our Housing and Neighbourhoods team plays a vital role in supporting tenants, managing tenancies, and fostering safe, inclusive neighbourhoods where people can thrive. We believe that every home tells a story, and through our Behind Every Door programme, we're committed to understanding those stories—ensuring every tenant feels seen, supported, and secure. Our work is rooted in compassion, integrity, and a deep respect for the people we serve. Joining us means becoming part of a forward-thinking council that values innovation, teamwork, and public service. We're not just managing homes—we're building trust, strengthening communities, and making Barking and Dagenham a place where everyone belongs.
