About the role

University College London (UCL) wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence for Construction and Real Estate. The post holder will be based at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, a world-leading faculty ranked #1 in the world for Built Environment studies and #1 in the UK for its research environment. The post holder will carry out teaching, research, and programme administration within the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, consistent with the vision and mission of The School in the general area of artificial intelligence (AI) and their application in construction and real estate. This is an open-ended, full-time position with an expected start date in January 2026.

About You (Key requirements)

The successful applicant will be expected to have conducted and published original research, reflected in the authorship of high-quality publications, working papers, or other research outputs in AI for construction and real estate. They should have knowledge of leading-edge research in AI for construction and real estate.

We are looking for someone who can lead debates on the future of AI for construction generally, with a full and mature understanding of the theory, practice, and ethics of AI techniques and their application in sustainable construction and real estate.

They will have experience of delivering high quality teaching and fostering a positive, supportive learning environment for students; including delivering teaching to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in relevant fields with an emphasis on application of AI and ML for construction and real estate. As well as experience of teaching support and administration.

Knowledge of the research funding environment and mechanisms relevant to the subject area is required as well as evidence of collaborations, enterprise, or knowledge exchange with industry and/or policy-makers.

A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is required, ideally having achieved or be progressing towards FHEA.

The successful candidate will be able to collaborate with academic and professional services staff and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills that support engagement with students, staff and external stakeholders.

Your application will be assessed based on how well the criteria set out in the person specification are met using examples to demonstrate this. A cover letter is required which addresses the criteria in the person specification.
