WFD is currently seeking a skilled finance and programme administrator
Job descriptionLocation: UK-based with the option for remote working. Occasional travel to London, within the UK and to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Americas regions may be required.
Salary:£22,050 - £23,100 (pro-rata salary)
Contract: Fixed Term, 1 January-31 December 2026, with possibility of extension, 0.7 FTE
Hours: Part-time – 3.5 days (28 hours)/week.
Benefits: Yearly performance pay,4 wellbeing days per calendar year, annual leave and public holidays entitlement. Plus, eligible for the Civil Service pension scheme option with employer contribution up to 28.97%.
Role overview with key responsibilities
The Senior Programme and Finance Officer (SPFO), MENA & Americas will play a critical role in assisting WFD's programmes in the MENA & Americas regions to meet their objectives through the provision of programmatic and financial support.
This role will work in key areas:
- leading on the programme and financial administration of WFD's Grant-in-Aid funded portfolio, support to donor-funded projects within the regions and support relating to the development and implementation of new donor-funded projects and programmes.
- responsibility for the accurate and efficient management of financial procedures, developing financial reports and ensuring excellent communication on, and co-ordination of, important financial information forecasts and expenditure.
- providing administrative and logistical support (research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, as well as communications work) throughout the programme cycle to facilitate the delivery of WFD's programmes in MENA and the Americas.
Reporting to the Regional Director, MENA & Americas, the Senior Programme and Finance Officer (SPFO), MENA & Americas is part of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) & Americas team within WFD's Policy and Programmes Directorate.
Person specificationAbout You - We are looking for the following
- Significant experience in programme administration and financial management
- Experience of and excellent abilities in accountancy and financial administration, including management of cash flows, balance sheets, budgets (planning, monitoring and reporting)
- Proficient in working with Microsoft 365 suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Dynamics/Business Central)
- Comfortable using programme management, reporting and evaluation systems and process and the ability to learn internal systems
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and programme cycle management and experience of working at all phases of a programme
- Exceptional planning and organisation skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English with excellent communication skills
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced multi-country region and with geographically dispersed colleagues
- Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to multitask and effectively plan/prioritise and organise own workload
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work in a changing environment
- University Degree (in finance, accounting or related field) or CPA, M.com, ACCA, ICAN
- Ability to work with diversity and multi-disciplinary teams, demonstrating cross-cultural sensitivity
