About the role
Are you passionate about mental health and wellbeing? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young people and their families in the London Borough of Barnet? We have an exciting opportunity to join Barnet's Integrated Clinical Service (BICS) as part of our Low Intensity offer. We have availability for Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) to join our established teams in Barnet.
Be part of our supporting and vibrant team in delivering evidence-based early interventions for children, young people and families. The successful candidates will be employed by BICS and based in education or community settings in either the West, East/Central or South localities of the London Borough of Barnet. The starting salary exceeds the NHS Agenda for Change Band 5 with outer London Higher Cost Allowance.
Barnet's Integrated Clinical Services (BICS) offer social, emotional, behavioural and mild-to-moderate mental health support to children, young people and families within the London Borough of Barnet. We see children, young people and families in schools and in the community, and across social care and youth offending settings.
We are made up of low-intensity clinicians working in schools and the community who see children and young people presenting with mild mental health needs. We also have high-intensity clinical practitioner supporting those with moderate mental health needs, including supporting those known to Children's Social Care.
We work within a stepped care model of delivering a range of therapeutic interventions working closely with NHS specialist CAMHS and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector. We also provide consultations, training and workshop with our colleagues within schools, Early Help Hubs, Social Care, GP surgeries and voluntary sector.

To be eligible to apply, applicants must have completed / expect to complete either the postgraduate diploma for Education Mental Health Practitioners prior to starting this role. Posts will be offered on a one-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of a permanent post becoming available. As part of this role, there will be a requirement to travel between education/community settings and to/from the office where the team base is located.
The successful candidates will be able to establish good communication and rapport with children and young people. You should be able to work as a team member and to engage effectively with clients and staff across a range of contexts and be able to plan and organise in the face of complex and competing demands. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to work with people from different backgrounds, cultures and of different ages.
The post holder will have a positive and proactive approach to their own continuing professional development and have the capacity for reflective practice.
