Senior Quantity Surveyor – Utilities & Infrastructure Sector

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the financial management of utility infrastructure projects from inception to completion. Your core duties will include:
- Developing and managing detailed cost estimates and project budgets
- Conducting thorough cost analysis and risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle
- Measuring, valuing, submitting, and negotiating contract variations
- Supporting procurement activities, including contractor and supplier selection
- Preparing tender documents, contracts, bills of quantities, and related documentation
- Monitoring project progress and producing financial reports for senior stakeholders
- Negotiating contracts and maintaining strong client relationships
- Ensuring full compliance with legal and regulatory standards
- Leading post-completion audits and final account settlements
Key Experience
Essential:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within the utilities sector
- Proven track record in cost management for infrastructure projects (water, gas, electricity, telecoms)
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES)
- Experience with project management and cost control software
- Background working with public utility companies or major contractors
