Senior Quantity Surveyor – Utilities & Infrastructure Sector About the Role Are you a Quantity Surveyor with a passion for infrastructure and a knack for financial precision? Key Responsibilities As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the financial management of utility infrastructure projects from inception to completion. Your core duties will include: Developing and managing detailed cost estimates and project budgets Conducting thorough cost analysis and risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle Measuring, valuing, submitting, and negotiating contract variations Supporting procurement activities, including contractor and supplier selection Preparing tender documents, contracts, bills of quantities, and related documentation Monitoring project progress and producing financial reports for senior stakeholders Negotiating contracts and maintaining strong client relationships Ensuring full compliance with legal and regulatory standards Leading post-completion audits and final account settlements Key Experience Essential: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within the utilities sector Proven track record in cost management for infrastructure projects (water, gas, electricity, telecoms) Strong working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Full UK driving licence Desirable: Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES) Experience with project management and cost control software Background working with public utility companies or major contractors
