Overview

We are seeking a flexible, friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team in our busy cafe. The ideal candidate will have some experience and be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our café. This role offers an opportunity to work in a welcoming environment, supporting daily café activities and creating a positive experience for all visitors. School or college students may be considered for weekend work - payment would be in line with the national living wage.

Duties

  • Greeting customers warmly and taking their orders accurately
  • Preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks - barista experience would be an advantage
  • Assisting with the presentation and display of food items
  • Maintaining cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Restocking supplies and ensuring the café is well-organised throughout the shift
  • Handling cash transactions and operating the till efficiently
  • Providing friendly assistance to customers with enquiries or special requests
  • Supporting team members during busy periods to ensure swift service
  • Washing up as needed

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required
  • Basic numeracy skills for handling cash transactions
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From £12.21 per hour
