Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing project costs, preparing accurate estimates, and supporting the organisation in budgeting and financial planning. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of cost control principles to contribute to our company's success. The Estimator will work closely with project managers, suppliers, and clients to ensure precise and competitive quotations that align with project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing information.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and proposals for various projects.
- Monitor industry trends and market conditions to ensure estimates remain competitive and realistic.
- Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts for upcoming projects.
- Review project changes or modifications and update estimates accordingly.
- Support the organisation in implementing effective cost control measures throughout project lifecycles.
- Maintain organised records of all estimates, calculations, and related documentation for future reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction, manufacturing, or engineering sectors.
- Strong understanding of cost control principles and budgeting processes.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in relevant software applications such as MS Excel, estimating programmes, or specialised tools.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
- A recognised qualification in quantity surveying, construction management, or related fields is desirable but not essential.
