Overview

The Conwy Comrades Club is looking for friendly, reliable, and community-minded individuals to join our Bar Team. As an important part of our member-focused venue, you will help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere while ensuring high standards of service.

This role is ideal for anyone who enjoys working in a social environment and takes pride in good customer service. Previous bar or hospitality experience is helpful but not essential — full training will be provided, including club procedures and licensing compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks efficiently and courteously to members and guests.
  • Take orders accurately and process payments through the club's POS/card systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe bar area throughout the shift.
  • Comply with all licensing conditions, Pub Watch, Challenge 25 requirements, and club policies.
  • Assist with restocking, rotating stock, and maintaining correct cellar/bar hygiene standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service and engage positively with members, guests, and visitors.
  • Handle customer queries or issues professionally, escalating to the Bar Manager when required.
  • Support colleagues and contribute to smooth bar operations during busy periods and events.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Previous hospitality or bar experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • Understanding of responsible alcohol service and food safety (training will be provided).
  • Friendly, approachable, and confident when interacting with the public.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to multitask in a busy environment.
  • Basic maths skills for handling cash/card transactions accurately.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a close-knit team.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine interest in providing a great experience for members and guests.
