Job Description: Teaching Assistant (College)

Position: Teaching Assistant

Contract- Temp

Start Date - ASAP

Shifts- 8:30 - 4:30 Monday to Friday (Other Shifts Available to be confirmed)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support students and faculty in a college environment. The ideal candidate will assist lecturers, provide academic and pastoral support to students, and contribute to a positive learning experience. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education and student development.

Student Support:

  • Assist students with coursework, assignments, and understanding lesson materials.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need additional help.
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or learning difficulties.

Classroom Assistance:

  • Assist lecturers in preparing learning materials and resources.
  • Supervise classroom activities and ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Support practical demonstrations and group work.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to lecturers.

Administrative Support:

  • Help with lesson planning and resource organization.
  • Assist in grading assignments and maintaining student records.
  • Manage classroom supplies and ensure resources are available.

Pastoral Care & Well-being:

  • Encourage and motivate students to achieve their potential.
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to students as needed.
  • Promote inclusivity, safeguarding, and college policies.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic IT skills for managing coursework and digital learning tools.
  • A positive, patient, and supportive approach.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in an educational or support role.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN).
