**Duties**

The duties outlined in this job description are in addition to those covered by the latest National Teachers’ Standards. It may be modified by the Director, after consultation, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary andjob title, also other duties that the Director may from time to time ask the post-holder to perform.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Strategic**:
Support the Director in developing and communicating a clear strategic vision of how to develop Expanse successfully to Outstanding

Have a deep understanding of education theory. We aim to personalise education through innovative approaches to learning, support, experience and leadership through an ambitious curriculum

Have an ‘eye’ for standards. Implement accurate performance indicators for students and staff and hold everyone accountable for them

Have up to date understanding of Ofsted requirements and ensure the effective and rigorous self-assessment of curriculum delivery are completed within the college.

**Behaviour and Attendance**

In consultation with the Director, lead the vision for the organisation

To lead and manage the teaching and support team, business officer and pastoral officer.

To encourage students’ engagement with the education process by supporting behaviour for learning

To oversee analysis of behaviour and attendance data and action plan accordingly

To identify staff development needs in relation to behaviour management and lead training as required

To implement relevant policies, plans, and practice related to behaviour management systems and anti-bullying

**Teaching and Learning**

Ensure teaching and learning is key area of college improvement, its development and delivery that meets the needs of individual students and maximises the opportunity for everyone to achieve excellent outcome

Ensure that teaching and learning practice is at the highest standard

Effective use of data to raise standards

Regularly review and quality assure the student tracking systems across the college

Implement assessment framework(s) that provides accurate and timely information for students, parents, teachers and governors

**Leading and Managing Staff**

Promote the college ethos and values reflecting Expanse’s vision

Lead by example with integrity, creativity, resilience and clarity, demonstrating optimistic personal behaviour, positive relationships and attitudes towards students, staff, parents and governors

Exercise effective staff management, lead and motivate others and promote positive working relationships

Maximise the contribution of staff to improve the quality of education provided and standards achieved

Create and maintain good working relationships among all members of Expanse Learning

Sustain their own motivation and that of staff for whom they are accountable

Promote Expanse’s ethos in which the highest achievements are expected from all members

Contribute to an effective and rigorous Performance Management process.
