Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Co-ordinator to lead engaging recreational programs that enrich the lives of our residents. In this role, you will design, organize, and facilitate a variety of activities tailored to the interests and needs of our residents, including those with memory impairments or living with dementia. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a vibrant community atmosphere, promote social interaction, and support residents' emotional and physical well-being. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults through innovative programming and compassionate care.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement diverse activity programs that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and health conditions, including memory care and Alzheimer's care.
- Coordinate daily schedules for recreational activities, ensuring smooth execution and timely transitions.
- Foster an inclusive environment by working closely with residents, families, and staff to identify individual preferences and special needs.
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music therapy, exercise classes, games, outings, and social events that promote engagement and joy.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) when needed, providing encouragement and support to enhance independence.
- Maintain detailed records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with care teams to integrate therapeutic activities that support cognitive function, emotional health, and overall well-being.
Experience
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living communities or nursing homes.
- Prior work in care settings with a focus on memory care or dementia care is highly desirable.
- Strong background in caregiving or long-term care environments involving assisted living or home & community care experience.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents with diverse needs and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling, social work principles, and best practices in dementia care is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with people with disabilities or those requiring specialized memory support enhances your suitability for this role.
