Job Summary
The Activities Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in nursing home environments. This position is responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that cater to the interests and abilities of seniors, including those with dementia and Alzheimer's care needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for senior care, ensuring that all residents feel valued and included in community life.
Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme tailored to the needs and preferences of residents.
- Coordinate daily activities, including arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and social events.
- Collaborate with carers and nursing staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve the activities offered.
- Foster a warm, welcoming environment that encourages social interaction among residents.
- Organise special events and outings to enhance community engagement.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is highly desirable.
- Background in dementia or Alzheimer's care, is an advantage.
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach to resident interactions.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative activity ideas that resonate with seniors.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on resident needs and preferences.
