Description

Overview

At Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG), a core division of Fanatics' mission to establish the ultimate end-to-end digital sports platform, we're building a world where every fan's passion is met with cutting-edge experiences. The Senior Engineering Manager role within the OddsFactory team is a cornerstone of this vision. You'll lead a high-impact team of Software Engineers focused on developing innovative technologies that drive our risk and trading systems.

This role goes beyond managing software development—it's about setting direction, owning execution, and delivering tech that powers the future of FBG and the broader Fanatics ecosystem.

You'll take ownership of project prioritization, software quality, system performance, and your team's professional growth. Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation, empower engineers to make decisions, and encourage active contributions to cross-team discussions. You'll drive solutions that elevate the fan experience while upholding the excellence Fanatics is known for.

Responsibilities

  • Lead your team in exploring and applying new technologies and practices, cultivating a culture of innovation and experimentation to deliver an exceptional fan experience.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Quants, and other engineering leaders to develop cohesive, user-first solutions aligned with Fanatics' strategic objectives.

  • Use data and metrics to guide your team's decision-making and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Champion a metrics-driven culture focused on measurable impact and continuous improvement.

  • Invest in the growth and success of your team—offer mentorship, support career development, and help shape the next generation of leaders.

  • Oversee the development of scalable, reliable systems while actively reducing technical debt and improving system performance.

  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships to influence product strategy and technical direction at scale.

  • Communicate complex technical ideas and business updates with clarity and confidence to stakeholders and executives.

  • Stay on top of industry trends and best practices—bring fresh ideas that help elevate team performance and drive results.

  • Be open to occasional travel for offsites, events, or key collaboration sessions. (We're happy to accommodate travel needs or restrictions.)

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in engineering leadership, with a strong ability to mentor, grow talent, and inspire technical excellence.

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, particularly with .NET/C# or similar technologies.

  • 3+ years of experience designing cloud-native systems (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum, with the agility to adapt in a fast-evolving environment.

  • A history of successfully delivering complex, scalable solutions with a focus on customer experience.

  • Positive, flexible mindset with a readiness to take on new challenges.

  • Strong results orientation, backed by data and outcomes.

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or similar (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience leading distributed or remote teams.

  • Passion for sports and/or the sports betting industry.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Data, and Design teams.

  • Start-up or high-growth environment experience, with a bias toward rapid learning and iteration.

  • Strong team collaboration mindset and passion for working in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

  • Passion for sports, especially NFL and college football
