Factory & Yard Manager
About the Role

Our client are seeking an experienced and dynamic Factory & Yard Manager to join our fast-paced manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in overseeing complex manufacturing processes, managing teams effectively, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a hands-on approach, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Operations Management:

    • Oversee daily factory and yard operations, ensuring smooth workflow and maximum efficiency
  • Coordinate production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines
  • Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles and practices
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the production process and develop solutions to address them
  • Manage inventory levels and optimise stock control procedures

Team Management and Leadership:

    • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of production staff, supervisors, and support personnel
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback
  • Implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Resolve conflicts and address employee concerns promptly and effectively

KPI Management and Target Achievement:

    • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, quality, and efficiency
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed production targets
  • Analyze performance data and create action plans to address areas needing improvement
  • Collaborate with other departments to align factory performance with overall business objectives
  • Present regular performance reports to senior management

Health, Safety, and Quality Management:

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments
  • Implement and maintain quality control systems to meet industry standards and customer requirements
  • Investigate and address quality issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality awareness among all employees

Lean and Continuous Improvement:

    • Spearhead lean manufacturing initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Kaizen
  • Encourage and facilitate employee involvement in process improvement suggestions
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies
  • Lead cross-functional teams in improvement projects

Resource Management:

    • Manage factory and yard resources effectively, including equipment, materials, and personnel
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and optimise equipment performance
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality
  • Manage budgets and control costs associated with production and yard operations
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement appropriate measures
