About Us
The Lighthouse (Emmaus Transformation Trust) is a charity working at the heart of the communities in Woking, Guildford, and Aldershot, providing a range of free social transformation projects to support, encourage, and empower anyone who may find themselves in need.
The Lighthouse is closely connected with Emmaus Rd Church, and this role reports directly to the Head of Finance and Operations at the church, while being the first point of contact for all Lighthouse charity finance matters.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Finance Officer. Working 21 hours per week (across 3–4 weekdays), you'll provide financial expertise and day-to-day support to ensure our charity's finances are managed effectively, efficiently, and in line with best practice.
While much of the role can be carried out from home, you'll need to work from our Woking office when required. We anticipate that this will be one day per week, but it could be more frequent to attend meetings. Occasionally, you may be asked to attend our church or community buildings in Aldershot and Guildford.
Key Responsibilities
The full responsibilities are in the job outline, but key responsibilities are:
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Support Lighthouse centre managers and project leaders to develop and forecast budgets.
Consolidate and maintain budgets in Xero for management and trustee review.
Financial Processing:
Administer and process all income and expenditure, including donations, grants, invoices, expenses, credit cards purchases.
Ensure financial procedures are understood and followed by staff and volunteers.
Financial Reporting:
Produce monthly and quarterly reports for management and trustees, highlighting key variances and insights.
Grant Management:
Maintain strong controls and governance over grant funding and reporting.
Ad-Hoc Financial Support:
Provide financial input for projects, grant applications, and business cases as required.
·You may be asked from time to time to support the church finance team.
Compliance & Audit:
Assist in preparing year-end statutory accounts and audits.
Help ensure financial practices comply with legislation and internal policies.
About You
You'll be an organised and self-motivated finance professional with excellent attention to detail and a collaborative approach.
Experience & Skills:
Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
Comprehensive experience preparing budgets and financial reports.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
Confident communicating financial information to non-finance colleagues.
Ideally, experience working in a charity, church, or SME environment.
Qualifications:
Qualified or part-qualified AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA. (or equivalent experience)
Personal Attributes:
Methodical and efficient, able to manage competing priorities.
Confident to take initiative, solve problems, and improve processes.
Respectful of the Christian ethos and values of the church and charity, and willing to support its mission and culture.
