Sizewell C is a new build nuclear plant in Suffolk. They are currently looking for a motivated and detail-driven
Assistant Commercial Manager
to join a high-performing team delivering the largest single contract in the country. This is a unique opportunity to develop core commercial skills within a fast-paced environment, working alongside experienced professionals who set industry-leading standards. This is a contract role with hybrid working from either Suffolk or London offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the commercial team in managing cost, contract, and financial activities across major infrastructure works.
- Assist with drafting and preparing basic contract documentation, including instructions, variations, and payment assessments, under supervision.
- Contribute to monthly cost reporting, budget tracking, and forecasting using established processes and systems.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and data, ensuring strong attention to detail and compliance with internal procedures.
- Support the assessment and administration of supplier and subcontractor payments.
- Develop strong working relationships with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth commercial operations.
- Assist in monitoring contract performance, identifying risks, and supporting mitigation actions.
- Continuously build commercial, contractual, and technical knowledge, taking on greater responsibility as experience grows.
Core Requirements
- Degree-qualified in
Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering
, or a related discipline. - 1–3 years' experience
in a commercial, quantity surveying, project controls, or contract administration role. - Experience or exposure to
infrastructure or construction
projects preferred. - Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn—someone who quickly absorbs information and is motivated by professional development.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and confidence managing data.
- Ability to prepare basic commercial documents and reports under guidance.
- SAP experience
is advantageous (or familiarity with other cost/project management systems).
Additional Attributes
- Early understanding of
NEC contract
principles or willingness to undertake formal training. - Strong
Excel
capability and a foundational understanding of commercial reporting. - Ability to build positive, effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
