Payroll Administrator

As a Payroll Administrator, you'll play a key part in delivering Serco's payroll services across multiple pay frequencies. You'll be responsible for processing payroll transactions accurately, resolving employee queries, and maintaining data integrity in line with UK legislative requirements and internal deadlines.

This role offers a great opportunity to build a strong foundation in payroll while contributing to the smooth operation of one of the UK's largest payrolls.

As part of this you'll:

Payroll Processing & Support

  • Process payroll transactions such as salary changes, absences, bonuses, overtime, and statutory payments.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll records in systems like ResourceLink and SAP HR.
  • Perform regular payroll checks and reconciliations to identify and correct discrepancies.

Call Handling & Query Resolution

  • Handle inbound calls and provide professional, friendly support to employees with payroll queries.
  • Investigate issues thoroughly and follow up until resolution.
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately and document call themes for ongoing improvements.

Data Integrity & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including PAYE, NI, SSP, and SMP.
  • Adhere to GDPR and internal policies when managing sensitive employee information.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy in all payroll inputs and outputs.

What you'll need to do the role:

Experience & Knowledge

  • Some understanding or exposure to UK payroll processes and legislation is an advantage.
  • Comfortable working with data and interested in payroll systems like ResourceLink or SAP HR.
  • Logical and methodical approach to data entry, checking, and reporting.

  • Confident handling phone-based queries.
  • Curious, eager to learn, and open to feedback and training.
