About The Role
Are you ready to help shape the future of the UK's energy landscape? Join us as an Asset Manager for our Uncertainty Mechanism (UM) team and play a pivotal role in modernising the nation's gas infrastructure, driving investment, and supporting the journey to net-zero by 2050.

As part of our Asset and Engineering division, you'll support the UM Programme Manager in developing robust, evidence-based funding requests that directly influence how we invest in and deliver a cleaner, more reliable energy future. Your work will ensure we continue to provide safe, efficient, and sustainable services for millions of customers.

What you'll be doing

  • Coordinate the development of Engineering Justification Papers (EJPs) to secure capital asset investment.
  • Project manage UM submissions, defining roles, mapping timelines, and ensuring governance.
  • Develop compelling narratives for funding requests, applying holistic analysis across cost, benefit, and engineering principles.
  • Report on project progress, pace, and risk to the UM Programme Manager and other stakeholders or wider stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across multiple teams, ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Coordinate the lifecycle of UM products from development to successful handover, holding teams accountable.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support regulatory engagement and historical oversight.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and standard operating procedures.

About You

Key Requirements & Experience
Essential:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to see the 'big picture' and support efficient investment decisions.
  • Strong collaborator, skilled at building relationships and working across disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to justify decisions and engage stakeholders.
  • Ambition to evolve and elevate the role, supporting our commitment to safety, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Strong commercial acumen ensuring projects pass the cost benefit analysis test.

Desirable:

  • Experience with gas transmission plant and equipment.
  • Knowledge of asset management, risk quantification, and investment/business case development (e.g. Cost Benefit Analysis, Engineering Justification).
  • Experience in whole life cost analysis and programme management.
  • Background in pipeline engineering or control systems is advantageous.
