Mosaic 1898 Direct Payment Support Service is assisting a lady to recruit a Personal Care Assistant.

The position is for 3 nights per week, which will be a combination of waking night and sleep in hours - Rota will be completed in advance.

2 nights: 8 waking night hours (6.00pm – 1.00am and 6.00am – 7.00am) at £13 per hour rising to £13.50 per hour on completion of Probationary Period, and 5 sleep in hours (1.00am - 6.00am) at £12.21.

1 night: 8.5 waking night hours (5.30pm – 1.00am and 6.00am – 7.00am) at £13.00 per hr, rising to £13.50 per hour following Probationary Period and 5 sleep in hours (1.00am - 6.00am) at £12.21 per hour.

Temporary position to the end of February for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday or Sunday nights.

A temporary day shift will be considered from March for day shift cover for Maternity leave.

This shift requires application of Fentanyl Patch

Total weekly hours = 39.5 hrs per week.

The role is to assist in all areas of personal and domestic need as required, and to act as an escort and aid to the employer's social and day to day activities.

Duties (As required, instructed or directed by employer)

  • Assist with personal care support when required
  • General household duties as necessary

Working with Disabled Employers

To provide assistance at the right time, enabling the employer to lead an independent/individual lifestyle in their own home within the community.

The PA should understand their role to assist with the self-defined needs of their disabled employer, and feel confident to ask what these needs are, and listen to requests and follow directions given.

The PA should:

  • meet the job's physical requirements (eg. moving & handling)
  • Arrive at the required times ready to work.
  • Contact immediately if going to be more than 15 minutes late.
  • Establish close working relationship on one to one basis.
  • If problems arise, discuss & resolve immediately.
  • Have some understanding of Mental Health.
  • Maintain confidentiality, respect privacy of employer.
  • Have a current driving licence.

The PA's attitude:

  • Appreciate stresses & strains of disabled employer, and the effect this can have on the acceptance of help.
  • Understand that the preservation of dignity & independence is important.
  • Respect the possessions & equipment in the employer's home.
  • Use of the telephone, television, radio etc should only be with employer's prior consent.
  • Any questions regarding tasks should be clarified before starting.
  • Duties/hours of work required may vary according to requirements.

Learning the Job

Daily tasks will be learnt and familiarised through PA & employer working together. There are Moving & Handling & Hoist Awareness Courses that can be arranged. If PAs do not have formal training certificates, Training courses are available.
