Long-Term Planning Manager

Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom West Coast Partnership Development Full time £40,000 - £80,000 per year

We're looking for a forward-thinking and enthusiastic Long-Term Planning Manager to help design the high-performing timetables that keep our customers moving and our operations running smoothly.

What You Will Do
You will help develop long-term timetable plans that put customers first, boost performance and make the best use of our resources. By working closely with the Timetable Development Manager and Strategic Timetable Development Diagrammer, you will liaise with Operations, Resources and key industry partners to create efficient, reliable schedules and diagrams, ensuring they meet all commercial and operational requirements, and challenge existing processes to drive smarter, value-for-money outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to timetable bids that meet AWC's commercial, performance and strategic goals.
  • Support future timetable change projects and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations and Resource teams to enhance long-term traincrew and fleet diagrams.
  • Participate in the Timetable Planning Rules process, reviewing updates and identifying impacts on future AWC timetables.

What You Will Bring
You'll have a strong understanding of the AWC timetable, our operations and network, along with insight into how timetables affect resources, costs and maintenance.

Accuracy and attention to detail come naturally to you, especially in repetitive or precision-focused work.

You'll also have experience in train planning whether through traincrew or stock resourcing combined with a proven ability to deliver high-quality, reliable outputs.

At Avanti West Coast, we believe our strength comes from the unique perspectives, experiences and backgrounds of our people. We are proud to build a workplace where diversity is embraced, and everyone is supported to thrive.
