About the Company
We are a leading main contractor specialising in the refurbishment and redevelopment of exclusive residential properties across West and Central London. Our projects range from full structural reconfigurations to luxury interior finishes, consistently delivering exceptional craftsmanship and service to an elite client base. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our dynamic pre-construction team.
Role Overview
As an Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in securing new business and supporting the successful delivery of complex, high-value residential refurbishment projects. You will be responsible for producing accurate, detailed, and competitive tender submissions while working closely with directors, quantity surveyors, designers, and specialist subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for high-end residential refurbishment projects valued between £5m and £20m.
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and other tender documentation to develop a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
- Source and manage subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring competitive and compliant pricing.
- Prepare BoQs, cost breakdowns, take-offs, and associated estimating documentation.
- Attend site visits, client meetings, and design workshops as required.
- Work collaboratively with the pre-construction and delivery teams to ensure accuracy and consistency between tender and construction phases.
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and alternative proposals to support competitive bids.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current market conditions, construction methods, and subcontractor capabilities.
- Contribute to bid strategy, presentations, and post-tender negotiations.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Estimator within the construction industry, ideally with a main contractor.
- Proven track record pricing high-end residential refurbishment projects in London.
- Strong understanding of prime and super-prime finishes, structural alterations, MEP installations, and complex logistics associated with central London builds.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., ConQuest, Causeway) and Excel.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Commercially astute with a solutions-focused mindset.
