Estimating manager will be responsible for the preparation of accurate and auditable detailed estimates either in support of senior colleague and or less complex projects as the lead estimator. Presents relevant elements of the estimate to stakeholders.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Working with limited supervision within a team whilst adhering to estimating procedures.
  • Collaborating with members of the team as required to ensure all aspects of the tender are considered.
  • Managing benchmarking exercises to test the estimate.
  • Overseeing the quality assurance of estimates within the project ensuring they are fit for purpose.
  • Communicating complex estimating and risk modelling data to leadership roles interpreting and providing recommendations for both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Coordinating and working in collaboration with senior leadership team (SLT).
  • Coaching and mentoring team members of the team when required
  • Adhering to compliance standards aligned with Mace governance processes.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:

  • Understanding & knowledge of construction techniques & costs within sector.
  • Understanding of procurement and contracting alternatives.
  • Understands how an estimate is put together.
  • Excellent Excel Skills.
  • Experience of working as an estimator within the construction industry.
  • Understanding & knowledge of the sector.
  • Works proactively within teams.
  • Coordinates with functional peers.
  • Develops and maintains a series of internal and external stakeholder/colleague relationships.
  • Coordinates and liaises with clients & key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and to tight timescales to achieve KPIs and strategic outcomes.
  • Ability to liaise with and influence leadership roles.

You'll also have:

  • Knowledge of construction.
  • Experience of CAD or PDF based measurement software.
  • Good presentational skills.
  • Understanding of cost breakdown structure (CBS) & work breakdown structure (WBS).
  • Familiar with sector method of measurement.
  • Champions the use of new technology.
  • Maintains and manages client/stakeholder at business/project level.
  • Adapts and responds to change and/or organisational requirements.
