Care is Central is looking for an individual with knowledge and experience in both planned and reactive maintenance work Ensuring the physical environment is maintained to a high standard across our care home. This job opportunity can offered as full time or part time contract, we are looking to recruit up to 40 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance work as required.
  • Carry out repairs, general decoration, basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
  • Check and maintain safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and alarms.
  • Safely and effectively use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Oversee and manage onsite building contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Fire Safety regulations.
  • Maintain records and documentation as required.
  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of residents.
  • Work flexibly, including out-of-hours when required.

Requirements

Essential:

  • NVQ, HNC, HND, or other Maintenance Qualification, or equivalent experience in a maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and Fire Safety regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and online reporting platforms.
  • Good physical stamina for tasks involving lifting and carrying.
  • Positive attitude, excellent time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and establish good rapport with staff and residents.
  • Full driving license and ability to travel between sites.
  • To be eligible to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • IOSH, NEBOSH, PAT certifications.
  • Membership in a professional institute or body.
  • Experience in a similar role within a care environment.
  • Experience communicating with individuals of varying abilities.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of current Housing and Social Care legislation.
