Overview
This new role is part of the 2nd line Risk function overseeing Corporate Functions (incorporating Product, Strategy and Commercial, Finance, Business Change, Legal, Compliance, People & Capability and Privacy) for Vocalink Limited, a company that enables the payments of 90% of salaries, 70% of utility bills, most ATM transactions and every cheque cleared in the UK.
The role holder will be part of a high functioning team, dedicated to delivering a robust, secure and resilient service to 60+million citizens every day with transactional volume of 11 billion/year and total annual transactional value in excess of GBP6 Trillion.
Responsibilities
The role holder will be responsible for assisting with the oversight of the Corporate Functions risk management.
The role holder will:
• Provide second line expertise and challenge around all aspects of Corporate Functions related risks
• Support the Vocalink risk management approach and implemented policies and procedures to minimize Corporate Functions risk exposure and drive robust controls
• Support the Vice-President, Corporate Functions Risk, leveraging subject matter expertise regarding Corporate Functions risk principles and generally accepted industry (regulatory) standards and internal control requirements
• Support the implementation of cross-functional initiatives on Corporate Functions risk goals, policies and procedures
• Provide challenge to the Corporate Functions first line Risk Committees (or equivalent) and support the provision of a second line opinion to ERC and BRC on Vocalink's risk profile
• Liaise with business partners to develop, manage and document best practices for Corporate Functions risk processes
• Oversees multiple internal and external project-based teams to implement Corporate Functions risk plans and reviews
• Embeds the Enterprise Risk Management Framework with respect to Corporate Functions risk, in particular ensure completeness and accuracy of: Inherent Risk Assessments, Control Standards, Adequacy and Design, Residual Risk, KPI's, Events and Root Causes Analyses and Horizon Scanning for New Threats
• Manage risk in a consistent, joined up manner and approach across Vocalink, with the 1st Line of Defence owning risks, the 2nd Line of Defence setting the standards of risk management and providing the review and challenge over those standards, and the 3rd Line of Defence providing the independent assurance of management of risk;
• Embed a strong, continually developing risk culture, where managing risk is simply part of how we work;
• Be aware of Vocalink's risks, self-identify the most material risks, review and assess the inherent and residual risks, biggest risk exposures and any concentration of risk, to enable Vocalink to make better decisions as a result and not repeat mistakes of the past;
• Ensure sufficient controls are in place to manage Vocalink's business safely, sustainably and within Board Risk Appetite.
• Be joined up as a business, collaborate across the business and continually improve our management of risk all across the business;
• Attest, challenge and validate Vocalink's key inventories of Assets, software & single points of failure

Knowledge, Skills and Expertise
Essential
• Risk expertise in a Financial Institution
• A track record of embedding controls in a Financial Institution
• Relevant experience of working in a complex (preferably multi-national) stakeholder environment that includes complex customers and regulators.
• Ability to articulate themselves clearly and concisely to a broad range of senior and junior stakeholders, acting as a bridge as well as guide for the implementation of new capabilities.
• Strong influencing skills; organisationally savvy
• Experience of presenting and communicating at board level
• Communication - requires effective communication skills – both written and oral - to deal with large diverse customer base (internal and external)
• Problem solving – excellent analysis and deductive skills

Desirable
• Experience within Critical National Infrastructure responsible organisations
• Financial Services experience particularly in payments and relevant infrastructure
• Experience working with regulators (Bank of England supervision)
