about the role….

We are looking for someone to lead the Business Growth and Investment team, who is a transformative and impact driven manager with strong business skills and experience in leading business engagement, account management, inward investment and sector development services within an economic development environment.

Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be brought to the fore in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with businesses, key partners and stakeholders, as well as leading teams of experienced business support professionals, and assisting the management of the Business Gateshead service.

An ability to maintain a strategic overview as well as identify problems and implement solutions will be crucial in the management of business support provision and performance, to ensure value for money and economic impact.

You will have detailed knowledge of business growth strategies and support systems, local economic conditions and a comprehensive understanding of business finance and legal structures, drivers of business growth and the challenges faced by businesses.

You will have extensive recent experience of developing and managing trusted relationships with businesses and stakeholders and managing the delivery of business support services.

Demonstrable knowledge of financial management and monitoring procedures, and performance management is essential.

The successful candidate should hold a relevant degree, management or leadership qualification at Level 4 or above or have equivalent experience.

You will be able to use data to develop targeted interventions to meet the needs of a diverse range of service users with experience of securing and managing external funding to enhance services.

An experienced people manager, you will lead and support employees to achieve results through effective performance management.

You will have a proactive and positive approach to customer care and a commitment to delivering high quality customer orientated services.

Able to effectively manage conflicting and competing priorities, you will be able to work to deadlines with minimal supervision, act on your own initiative and as part of a team and be confident in making and justifying decisions.

You will possess excellent oral and written communication skills to influence people and present complex information clearly and concisely.

  • You'll be paid a competitive salary £48,226 to £51,356 pa
