Remote, United Kingdom Barnardo's Full time £27,551 per year

Are you passionate about creating meaningful digital content that informs, inspires, and empowers? Do you want to use your skills to make a real difference in the lives of children, young people, and families? Join Barnardo's as our Website Content Officer and help shape the voice of one of the UK's leading children's charities.

About the Role

As a Website Content Officer, you will play a vital role in creating, editing, and publishing impactful content across Barnardo's digital platforms – including our website and blog. From expert-led advice to lived experience stories, your work will ensure that our audiences get the support and information they need.

You'll collaborate with teams across the organisation, apply SEO and UX best practices, and use data-driven insights to improve our online presence.

In this role you will:

  • Write and publish clear, inclusive, and engaging content for our website and blog.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop accurate and evidence-based materials.
  • Optimise content for SEO and user experience, using tools such as GA4, Hotjar, and Ahrefs.
  • Maintain and update existing content, ensuring accuracy and relevancy.
  • Support content planning within integrated campaigns.
  • Ensure content meets accessibility standards and data protection principles.

About You

You'll be a creative and detail-oriented communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment. You're passionate about digital storytelling and know how to tailor your writing to meet audience needs.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience writing digital content for large, mission-driven or commercial organisations.
  • Strong editorial and copywriting skills for web.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (ideally Drupal).
  • Understanding of SEO and user-focused content strategy.
  • Comfortable analysing content performance using digital tools.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.

Please note due to the high volume of applications for some posts, this advert might close before the displayed closing date. We recommend that you apply for this role as soon as possible.

Pay & Reward Framework

We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's values. We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.

For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our People & Culture Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo's and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
