Camberley GU DN, United Kingdom Overworld AMP UK Full time £20,000 - £25,000 per year

About Us

Overworld AMP is a pioneering, state-of-the-art Independent Alternative Provision dedicated to meeting the needs of neurodivergent young people. We provide highly individualised programmes, accredited qualifications, guidance, and ongoing support to enable each young person to reach their full potential.

Our learners are aged 8–25 and present with a range of special educational and, in some cases, care needs. The majority have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

We operate across multiple sites on the Surrey–Hampshire borders, with our main site currently being developed into a registered school. Interviews will take place at our current site in Camberley, but we will be relocating to near Farnham, Surrey within the next few weeks.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate, creative and adaptable Support Worker to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same — supporting young people to develop confidence, skills, and independence through gaming, learning, and real-world experiences.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people to promote engagement, learning, and wellbeing.
  • Plan and deliver a blend of on-site and off-site activities designed to promote confidence, independence and life skills — including community engagement, leisure, sports, and creative projects (e.g. swimming, trampolining, or local outings).
  • Support young people 1:1 or in small groups, tailoring activities to their interests, strengths, and goals.
  • Create lesson plans and workflows for sessions, using available templates and information.
  • Capture and edit gaming footage, videos, and images for internal and external use (e.g. showreels and progress showcases).
  • Guide young people through education courses, certification programmes and qualifications (e.g. AIM, ASDAN, AQA Units).
  • Observe, record and evaluate each session — writing up progress notes and contributing to reports.
  • Work collaboratively with the Education and Care Teams to ensure holistic, trauma-informed and neuro-affirming support.
  • Maintain safe working practices in line with Overworld AMP's safeguarding, health & safety, and risk assessment procedures.
  • Contribute positively to team meetings, reflection, and continuous improvement.

Qualities You'll Need

  • Genuine passion for working with young people, particularly those who are vulnerable or neurodivergent.
  • A sense of humour and a lot of patience
  • Empathy, compassion and a commitment to inclusivity.
  • Positivity, flexibility, and a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport through respectful communication.
  • Willingness to reflect on practice and learn from experience.
  • Awareness of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • A strong desire to see young people succeed, both personally and academically.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, think creatively and focus on solutions.
  • Be a positive role model for the next generation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Full UK driving license required (business-insured vehicles available for work use).
  • Strong gaming skills, with the ability to engage confidently across a range of games and platforms.
  • Willingness and ability to develop skills in new games and devices beyond personal preferences.
  • No formal qualifications required, but a commitment to Continued Professional Development (CPD) is essential.
  • Ability to upskill to at least a Level 2 Award in Mentoring within your first six months.
  • Commitment to progress towards other education/care-related qualifications (e.g. Level 3 Award in Education and Training).

Safeguarding

Overworld AMP Limited is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We follow the NSPCC's Safer Recruitment Guidance.

All offers of employment are subject to the receipt of at least two satisfactory references (including your current or most recent employer/tutor) and a clear enhanced DBS check. It is a criminal offence for any person barred from working with children to apply for a role within an educational organisation.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a forward-thinking, innovative organisation.
  • Work in a collaborative, inclusive and creative environment that celebrates diversity.
  • Enjoy the variety of on-site and off-site experiences, from gaming sessions to community-based adventures.
  • Access structured professional development and progression pathways within the alternative education sector.
  • Make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who need understanding, encouragement, and opportunity.
